Maria Luisa Volta
IFAC TC 8.3 Chair and IAMES IPC Chair

Marialuisa Volta is a full professor of Control Systems with the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Brescia (IT). Her research interests deal with non-linear systems analysis, environmental systems modelling and control, decision models, Integrated Assessment Modelling. In these fields she published 119 papers, book chapters, books (Scopus). She has coordinated several EU and national research projects, among these RIAT (EC JRC), OPERA (EU Life+ENV/IT/092), APPRAISAL, (FP7 303895), BIOMASS Hub (Innovation Hub (IT)), ATHLETIC (Air quaIiTy and Life styles: HeaLTh Cobenefits) (University of Brescia (IT)), AgriAir (Fondazione Cariplo (IT)). M. Volta was a member of the Expert panel on Air Quality Directive review - European Court of Auditors; National delegate at UNECE – TFIAM. She serves as chair (2020-2022) of the IFAC TC8.3 “Modelling and Control of Environmental Systems” and as expert of the Global Air Pollution and Health Technical Advisory Board of the World Health Organization (2021-2023).

François Pérès
IFAC TC8.3 Vice-Chair IAMES NOC Chair

After obtaining a PHD from the University of Bordeaux François Pérès entered the Ecole Centrale de Paris as Assistant Professor.  A few years later he was  recruited in the INP ENIT within the University of Toulouse. He is currently working as Professor in the Production Engineering Laboratory and heads the "Systems" Scientific Department. His research deals with vulnerability analysis, uncertainty handling and risk management applied to natural or technical systems. He holds various positions in academic societies (Vice-Chair of IFAC TC5.1 & TC 8.3, Chair of ESRA Manufacturing Technical Committee, Director of the STP Chapter of SAGIP (Industrial and Production Engineering society representing the French research community in this field)). He was also chairman for the last Call for Proposals of the CES 10 (Scientific Evaluation. Committee) of the ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) and is currently and for 6 years now a member of the National Council of Universities representing the Full Professor College.

Carmen Martin
IAMES  NOC Vice-Chair

Graduated from Zaragoza Polytechnic Center (Spain) Carmen Martin obtained a PhD from the Ecole Centrale of Paris. After an industrial experience as a research engineer in the Innovation Department of PSA Peugeot Citroën and, later on, in the industrial risk division of EDF (Electricité de France), she joined the Tarbes National Engineering School (ENIT) where she works now as Assistant Professor. Today her research deals with probabilistic design and uncertainty data handling. She has been supervising 5 PhD thesis and is the author of many publications both in journal and international conferences. Lately her research has been focused on mechanical vulnerability analysis of civil enginerring systems subject to natural risks (floods and earthquakes). She is also currently Head of the International Relationships Office within the INP Enit of the University of Toulouse and member of the National University Council representing the college of Associate Professors in the "Mechanics" section.

Ronald V. Nooijen
IAMES IPC Vice-Chair for Industry

Ronald van Nooijen has M.Sc. degrees in mathematics and theoretical physics from Leiden University and a doctorate in Mathematics and Information Science from the University of Amsterdam. He worked as a post-doc in the field of massively parallel computing applied to fluid dynamics, then switched to water management at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of Delft University of Technology. After serving as chair for the IFAC TC8.3 on modelling and control of environmental systems (2014 to 2020) he was appointed as member of the technical board of IFAC for the period 2020-2023. He is particularly interested in the application of automatic control and statistics to water resource systems. He organised sessions on control of water resource management at international conferences (for EGU, IAHS, IUGG). He serves as an associate editor of the Hydrological Sciences Journal and is a member of the Advisory Board for the Springer Water Program.

Ludovic Lhuissier
IAMES NOC Vice-Chair for Industry

Graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and the ENGREF, Ludovic LHUISSIER began his career in the deconcentrated services of the State, at the DRIRE and the Prefecture of the Champagne-Ardenne Region, in the territorial development department. In 2004 he joined the CACG in Tarbes, as a design engineer to work on issues related to the quantitative management of water resources. He has been involved in many projects in France and in the Maghreb or in Senegal, within the framework of strategic reflections on the management of water resources at the scale of catchment areas (SDAGE, Volume of water to be extracted...). In particular, he contributed to the Garonne 2050 study, a prospective exercise that is now a reference in terms of reflection on adaptation to climate change. Initially a project manager, he finally joined the Management Committee in 2013 to structure innovation at the CACG, developing numerous research partnerships (INRAE, CESBIO, ENI Tarbes, Toulouse School of Economics, University of Pau...). He continues his commitment to these topics by regularly participating in various internal or external research projects.
